REVENGER'S and
GRUESOME
Jan/18/10
Time for grad school shows #2 and #3... I'm
currently in rehearsals for two shows: one
mainstage, and one student produced. The
first is THE REVENGER'S TRAGEDY by Thomas
Middleton; the second is GRUESOME
PLAYGROUND INJURIES by recent Whiting Award
winner Rajiv Joseph.
TRT is directed by La Jolla Playhouse
Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. I'm
playing the role of Hippolito and we're
having a blast working on the show. We're
playing with a reality show concept and the
performance is being live edited and fed
through video screens around the set so the
audience can watch the action both live and
on TV. The technology we're using is
awesome and it's a great experience working
on a classic Jacobean text in a super
modern setting. For more info on the show,
which runs Feb. 11-20, click
here.
GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES is a 2-person
play by Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the
Baghdad Zoo) that charts two lives, using
scars, injuries and calamity as the mile
markers. An imaginative tour de force, the
play explores why people hurt themselves to
gain another’s love, and the cumulative
effect of such damage, of such demands. I
will be performing alongside classmate
Taylor Shurte, with direction by Larissa
Lury. Dates and more info coming
soon...
